Communications Network of the Regional Government of Bizkaia

The communications network of the Regional Government of Bizkaia has a direct point of connection with Lantik S.A. There are various types of connections from different points.

• Common point (star) in Lantik's CPD's.
• Supported by the following line types:
  • Optical fibre (Regional Government Departments).
  • Point-to-point dedicated lines.
  • RDSI lines.
  • ADSL / VPN lines.
  • Voice lines (RAS access)
• Wi-Fi access in some buildings.
• Connection between CPD's through 4 pairs of optical fibres.
• Single protocol TCP/IP.
• Prevalence of CISCO systems.
• Double Internet provider/access line

From the Government departments in Bilbao there is a Fibre-Optic Gigabit connection. In some departments there are two fibre lines, one provided by Telefonica and the other provided by Euskatel. These are located in:

The departments that have only fibre optic lines from Euskatel are:

• Bideak ­ Public company supplying highway and social infrastructure
• BizkaiLur ­ Public company promoting, acquiring, urbanising and managing land for the industrial and service sectors.

• Meaztegi ­ Public company to protect the environment in the municipalities of Abanto, Ciervana, Ortuella and Trapagaran

From the decentralised Treasury office, the Service Companies, SMS Services, Editran Transmissions, the Uurioste Fire Station, State Organisms, Eusko Jaurlaritza, Bilbao Town Hall, Getxo Town Hall and Basauri Town Hall, the connection is by dedicated point-to-point lines.

From Las Ocas, the IFAS Homes, Property Registries, Museums, Inns, Dumps, Derio Farm and Service Companies, the connection is made by ADSL, using a VPN or Virtual Private Network.

The fire stations use a Lan-to-Lan VPN connection

As well as being able to access the regional network through RAS (remote access server) access from PDA's, mobile phones and personal computers, the regional network is connected to the Internet, making it is possible to connect to it by VPN.

There is also a Video Conferencing system.
In the Regional Palace there is a radio linkup to the Artxanda Archives.
